The latest hearing aid from Phonak is their best yet, featuring superb speech understanding, a natural sound and personalized noise cancelling.
Find Out MoreThe Latest Hearing Aids From Phonak
Phonak is one of the biggest hearing aid manufacturers in the world. They are a Swiss company which is a part of the much larger Sonova group. They have been manufacturing hearing aids for over half a century and provide their devices in over 100 countries around the world. While they were once known for Children's hearing aids, they have become known for outstanding hearing aid technology for all. The new Phonak Marvel range has really excited both professionals and users alike and I expect them to be pretty big in 2019.
Phonak Made For Any Phone
Phonak are rated as one of the best hearing aid manufacturers around today and they consistently work to improve their technology an stay ahead of the pack. In late 2018 they launched their exceptionally popular ‘Marvel’ platform. It was practically unprecedented in its popularity and captured the mind of both hearing professionals and consumers alike. In August 2020, they announced the introduction of their new Paradise range which builds upon the Marvel and adds some really interesting features and capabilities. Unfortunately, the only devices available are the Audeo which is their Receiver In Canal range. However, we expect that to change slowly over 2020 and 2021.
The latest full range of Phonak hearing aids is on the Marvel platform. While the Marvel platform is a little bit older than the Paradise, it is still a fantastic platform. If you are looking for Behind The Ear or In The Ear hearing aids from Phonak, well then the Bolero and Virto Marvel ranges are for you.
Are Phonak Hearing Aids Good?
I would have to say yes, generally, any experience I have had with Phonak hearing aids has been a good one and customers are genuinely happy with the benefit they provide. In the UK they had a lot of problems with custom hearing aids for a while. Those problems were mostly to do with size and shape, not reliability. However, with the introduction of the Virto Titanium, I think those issues will fade. They are constantly undertaking background work to increase the benefit of their hearing aids and their ability to handle noisy situations is good.
Phonak Hearing Aid Technology
Phonak do things a little differently than the other manufacturers when it comes to naming their hearing aids. They do use numbers to signify technology level, however, they split their hearing aid types with different names. For instance, a flagship or premium range hearing aid from Phonak will use the number 90 while a basic aid will have the number 30 in the name. Their BTEs are called Bolero, their ITEs are called Virto and their RIC / RITEs are called Audeo.
Phonak Hearing Aid Prices
We would expect the modern Phonak hearing aids to be sold at prices from £800.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €1000.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $1000.00 to $3200.00 in the USA.

Phonak Lumity
Phonak has launched their new hearing aid platform, which they call Lumity. The initial hearing devices launched on the new platform will be their Audeo Receiver In Canal devices which consists of three Receiver In Canal model all of which are rechargeable devices. It appears that there may be no traditional zinc-air battery-powered RIC devices on the Lumity platform as Phonak says, Meet the first fully rechargeable product range from Phonak.
One Device Type, Three Models Initially
As I said, three separate Receiver In Canal models, all of which are rechargeable and Made For Any Phone. There is the Audeo L-R, an Audeo L-RT (which has a telecoil), and an Audeo Life Lumity. This is what they have to offer:
Audéo L-R
- Built-in rechargeable hearing aid
- Mild to profound hearing loss
- Health data tracking**

New AutoSense 5.0 Management System
The new hearing aids have an upgraded central management system called AutoSense to 5.0. AutoSense manages all of the other features, deciding what needs to change to ensure you hear your best as the sound around you does. Phonak has continually upgraded its management system as advances in chipsets and both Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in audiology increase.
SmartSpeech Technology
Phonak has introduced a new upgraded speech-focused technology that they are labelling SmartSpeech on the Lumity platform. The technology consists of two changes in the aids themselves and the use of the external Roger system. You still get the benefit without a Roger device, they have just included it in the concept of SmartSpeech Technology.
StereoZoom 2.0
The aids themselves have upgraded and changed the parameters in their proprietary directionality strategy StereoZoom 2.0, They have also changed the implementation of that feature with an upgraded sound scene analysis system focused on speech that they call SpeechSensor. Sound scene analysis is the analysis system that monitors and analyzes what is going on in the world. The changes here will allow a better perception of speech.
Phonak says that the new Stereozoom 2.0 enables better speech understanding from the front by 16% in a noisy environment. The SpeechSensor feature combined with StereoZoom 2.0 will also deliver 15% better speech understanding from the back and sides.
SpeechSensor
SpeechSensor is an automatic feature that is designed to provide 360-degree speech detection by monitoring your surroundings for speech. It assesses the main speech source and adjusts the aid's microphone modes to ensure that you have more access to speech from the back and sides.
Two Types of Chargers
The Lumity is introduced with a new shape charger for the L-R and L-RT and the Charger Case Go for the Audeo Life. The Audeo Life is going to be the slightly dearer model, however, the Charger Case Go may be worth that extra money if you are an active, on-the-go type. The Charger Case Go can charge the Life aids three times without plugging in.
myPhonak App
As with the platforms before it, Lumity pairs with the myPhonak app, the app gives you the ability to make adjustments on the go and create customised programs. The app also allows you to track personal health data, including step count, wearing time, activity levels, distance walked and ran, and optional goal setting. In addition, myPhonak app allows you to connect directly with a hearing care professional who can remotely assist in personalising their hearing experience.
Phonak Paradise
Phonak launched their latest hearing aid range which they call Paradise during a virtual global launch event on August the 20th 2020. It is completely new both outside and inside, although you would have to take a very close look to spot the exterior changes. As is normal with Phonak, the first hearing aid styles to be launched will be the Audeo (Receiver In Canal) range.
Phonak were hugely successful with their Marvel range, it proved to be probably the most successful range of hearing aids for good reason. They were and still are fantastic hearing aids with some outstanding features. Phonak chose to build upon the functionality of the Marvel platform by enhancing some abilities and introducing a lot more. They have delivered a brand new computer chip (PRISM), with brand new features, a motion sensor, increased connectivity, and a brand new sound all go to make the Phonak Paradise the best they have ever produced.
Four Technology Levels
The new Audeo Paradise will be available in four technology levels, the premium 90, the 70, the 50 and the 30 levels. Not all levels of technology, nor every hearing aid will have some of the features and abilities. I will discuss that as we go.
Motion Sensor Hearing
Some of the new Paradise range will be equipped with motion sensors which will power some of the new features. Unfortunately, they will only be available on the rechargeable hearing aids and only in the 90, 70 and 50 level of technology. The motion sensors are used to help the hearing aids understand if you are in motion. If you are in motion and having a conversation with someone, the aids understand that and change how they work to help you hear them better.
This concept is a large part of a changing understanding among hearing aid brands that they can do better in different situations with better information. In general, if you are walking and a companion is talking to you, hearing aids may not understand that you are interested in that voice, in particular, if you are in a noisy shopping mall. The added information that you are moving adds more context and allows the hearing aids to widen their focus so you get a better chance to hear your companion.
Two Active Bluetooth Connections
The Marvel had outstanding connectivity, yes there were occasional issues and some irritating bugbears but Phonak has recognised them and moved to solve them in the Paradise. The Paradise builds upon the Marvel Bluetooth features with increased and in-depth Bluetooth connectivity which offers an active connection to two Bluetooth devices.
Whereas with the Marvel, you needed to disconnect from one device to connect to another, with the Paradise, you can easily switch between two connected mobile phones or your mobile phone and your tablet without any fuss. The Paradise actually allows you to pair to 8 Bluetooth®-enabled devices. That sounds like a lot, but when you think about it, many of us use at least three different Bluetooth enabled devices such as a phone, tablet and laptop. As technology changes, I think we can expect that to increase.
Tap Control
The new Tap Control feature is powered by the motion sensors, so it is only available with the rechargeable devices. Unfortunately, it is also only available on the 90 and 70 levels of technology. It allows users to activate popular voice assistants, answer or reject calls, or even pause or resume audio streaming by simply tapping on their ear. It means that you can do more with your hearing aids without worrying about the buttons, the functionality also opens up new possibilities for hearing aid users using what is called a voice-first strategy. It means that you can command your voice assistant to do quite a lot, simply by tapping your hearing aids and telling it what you want it to do.
A Whole New Sound
The Audéo Paradise hearing aid range is the first hearing aid range to benefit from Sonova’s new sound processing chip, PRISM (Processing Real-time Intelligent Sound Management). They have used the new more powerful chip to improve upon their sound features and changed the proprietary prescription that Phonak uses to help you hear better.
They have also introduced a new speech enhancer feature that boosts soft speech in quiet sound environments. It should allow you to hear softer voices much easier in those sedate environments. Soft voices over distance should be enhanced by the new speech enhancer feature as well.
A New App
The new upgraded myPhonak app will provide Paradise wearers with more control over how they hear thanks to a new personalized noise cancelling feature.
Four New Aids
The Audeo Paradise range is made up of four Audeo hearing aids, two rechargeable hearing aids and two traditionally powered hearing aids. It is important to note that only the rechargeable devices have the new motion sensor feature and also the tap control feature and only at certain levels of technology. The new PRISM chip also allows the speakers in the Audeo range to be a little bit more powerful meaning they will cover more hearing losses than ever.
Phonak

The device offers a direct connection to two active Bluetooth devices and will pair with up to eight.

Meet The Marvel range from Phonak
As we reported in our blog, Phonak introduced their latest hearing aid platform which they are calling the Marvel in late 2018. Phonak introduced a full range of Receiver In Canal Made For Any Phone hearing aids initially. However, in August 2019, they announced the launch of a range of BTE hearing aids on the Marvel platform. Marvel is offered in the usual four levels of technology, the Marvel 90, 70, 50 and 30.
Made For Any Phone
While most of the hearing aid brands went for Made For iPhone hearing aids, Phonak decided that they would go a different way with their mobile phone connectivity. They chose one that would give them a direct connection to any mobile phone. Phonak relied on the traditional Bluetooth protocol, which offered huge benefits. It meant that any hearing aid they produced would be technically able to connect to any Bluetooth enabled device, not just phones. That strategy also presented real technical difficulties. The first Made For Any Phone hearing devices (The Audeo B-Direct) did not offer stereo audio streaming of phone calls or any other audio. It also ensured that Phonak's quite famous ear to ear features did not work.
A New System, No Limits
The new Marvel platform does not have any of those limitations. The Marvel will allow users to experience stereo streaming audio from any Bluetooth enabled device, that includes most mobile phones available, computers, even some modern TVs. Marvel users can have that audio streaming with the full benefits of Phonak's ear to ear features (Binaural Voice Streaming Technology BVST for short). That all means an outstanding new hearing aid platform with no limitations.
Fully Featured Hearing Aids
As I said, these hearing aids aren't de-featured in any way. They include all of the latest Phonak features including their much-celebrated ear to ear features. They also have a brand new sound management system called Autosense 3.0 which recognises and automatically adapts to precisely match more listening situations than ever before. Autosense 3.0 also classifies streamed signals and will adapt how it works to better help you to hear the way you should.
Multi-functional and Feature Rich Hearing Aids
These hearing devices are hugely multi-functional and feature-rich. The Marvel contains probably every single one of the current headline features in the hearing aid world, and they have even thrown in some new ones, here’s the quick list:
- Stereo Bluetooth streaming: Stereo streaming from any Bluetooth enabled device, that means iPhone, iPad, laptops, computers, Macs, Android phones, Windows phones, hell any Bluetooth-enabled phone.
- Real Hands-free calling in stereo: Like the Audeo B-direct, the Marvel offers true hands-free calling from Bluetooth-enabled phones and VOIP services like Skype, except, to both hearing aids.
- TV Streaming: Marvel can stream directly from Bluetooth-enabled TVs, and can also stream from the Phonak TV Connector accessory.
- Rechargeability: They say both Marvel rechargeables will deliver a full day of hearing aid use from a single charge.
- Remote adjustments: Marvel hearing aids can be adjusted remotely by your hearing expert.
- New App Eco-System: Brand new apps to make life easier and engage the consumer in the process.
- RogerDirect: This is really fascinating, for the first time, users will be able to stream from Roger devices directly to their hearing aids.
- Full Phonak Feature Set: The Marvel will offer full and up to date inter-ear features.
Stereo Bluetooth streaming
Marvel will directly stream stereo audio from any device capable of streaming audio via Bluetooth. This includes almost any device you can think of. You can connect it directly to your Android phone; you can connect it directly to your Mac Book or Windows laptop. You can even connect it directly to any Bluetooth enabled television. That is pretty amazing, that is a direct connection without any streamer. The quality of streaming audio is excellent; audio is full and clear. Music is warm and full, and phone calls are clear.
True Hands-Free Calling
The Marvel delivers true hands-free calling in stereo. You will hear your phone calls in both ears giving you a better chance at understanding what is being said. Hands-free means you don't need to touch your phone. Your phone can be up to thirty feet away. You simply hit the button on your hearing aid to answer the call.
More Than Just Audio Connection
The Bluetooth connection is being used for more than just audio streaming though. They will also use that same connection for data exchange between the mobile phone and the hearing aids. This ability offers much more benefits for consumers and professionals alike. The data exchange is the core of the new ability to remotely fine tune the hearing aids in real time and for the user to give real-time day to day feedback with the new Hearing Diary.
Remote Fine Tuning
The new Phonak remote fine-tuning system is excellent, a video calling system gives the same feeling of face to face interaction, just in a different way. While the remote support may not be for everyone, I think it will be welcomed by people who see it as a real alternative to in-clinic appointments
Speech To Text
They have also introduced a new speech to text app with the new products. The new app acts as a transcription system which allows users to read what is being said by the person on the other end of the phone. It works in real-time and thanks to hands-free phone calling you can carry on the conversation while you read the dialogue. The app will allow people with hearing loss extra help to understand people on their mobile phone.
RogerDirect Arrives
Phonak's Roger system is the Gold Standard in FM assistive devices for people with hearing loss. There has been much talk about RogerDirect and now it has arrived. All existing Marvel hearing aids will be able to be upgraded by hearing care professionals so that the new RogerDirect™ system can be added to the hearing aids allowing Roger microphone equipment to stream directly to Marvel hearing aids without having to attach an external receiver. That is something special and it will provide an even better benefit for people in complex sound environments.
Phonak
Virto Marvel Hearing Aids
Phonak have now introduced the full range of their new Virto M in the ear products. The range will include a Marvel Titanium, two Marvel CIC devices, one with a size 10 battery and the other with a size 312, a Bluetooth enabled In The Canal/Half Shell model powered by a 312 battery and the Virto Black, basically the same as the 312 In The Canal/Half Shell model but with a black case.
Only the Virto Black and the Virto 312 In The Canal/Half Shell device will have the full Marvel functionality including the amazing connectivity. The other devices will not have connectivity. I think that raises a conundrum, at least for me. I don't see any point in upgrading to a Marvel Virto from earlier Phonak Virto products unless I am getting the amazing connectivity.
Obviously, that is a question for you rather than me, but if you are after one of the invisible versions, think about it carefully.
The range will be available in the usual four levels of technology, the 90, 70, 50 and 30.
We would expect the range depending on the technology level, to be sold at prices from £1200.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €1200.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $1200.00 to $3200.00 in the USA.

Bolero Marvel Range
The Bolero Marvel range is the latest range of Behind The Ear hearing aids from Phonak. It consists of just two hearing aid models, The Bolero Marvel M and the Bolero Marvel PR which is a little strange. Both devices really only cover hearing losses up to moderate to severe. Phonak would usually introduce a larger range of Bolero devices includinh a device that would cover severe to profound hearing loss. This time, they haven't, I think that means that we will see the Naida Marvel range of hearing aids introduced soon.
Bolero Marvel Hearing Aid Prices
We would expect the Bolero Marvel range to be sold at prices from £800.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €1000.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $1000.00 to $3200.00 in the USA.
Bolero Marvel M
The Bolero Marvel M is a pretty discrete mini BTE with a multi-functional button, not unlike the button used on the Audeo. The M can be fitted with a slim tube (which you can see above) or an ear hook for traditional tubing and ear mould. The M will cover hearing losses down to 75 dB in the low to 95 dB in the high frequencies. That, of course, depends on configuration, with the slim tube fitted, that reduces to 80 to 85 dB in the high frequencies. The M has all of the features of the Marvel platform with a direct connection to any Bluetooth mobile phones and Roger devices. However, the M does not have a telecoil onboard so a connection to a Loop System is out. The device will be available in the four levels of technology, the 90, the 70, the 50 and the 30
Bolero Marvel PR
The Bolero Marvel PR is slightly larger than the M, but it is still relatively discrete. It uses the same multi-functional button as the smaller M. The PR is a lithium-ion powered rechargeable hearing aid can be fitted with a slim tube (which you can see above) or an ear hook for traditional tubing and ear mould. The PR will cover hearing losses down to 80 dB in the low to 100 dB in the high frequencies. That, of course, depends on configuration, with the slim tube fitted, that reduces to 70 in the low and 90 dB in the high frequencies.
The PR has all of the features of the Marvel platform with a direct connection to any Bluetooth mobile phones and Roger devices. It also has a telecoil onboard so it can be used to connect to a Loop System. Phonak say that you will get a full day of use out of one charge and use time is similar to the Audeo. The device will be available in the four levels of technology, the 90, the 70, the 50 and the 30

Meet The Audeo B-Direct
The First Phonak Made For iPhone
Phonak was expected to launch their first ever Made For iPhone hearing aids in September 2017. In fact, the rumour mill was correct, Phonak did introduce their very first Made For iPhone hearing aid. However, it is more than Made For iPhone. In fact, it is a Made For Any Phone hearing aid. There were several caveats here though, the audio from a phone call will only stream to one ear, while the other is attenuated to give you a better opportunity to hear the caller. The other caveat is that because Phonak is not using their own audio streaming system, you lose some of their amazing situational programmes such as Speech in loud noise, Speech in 360 and Speech in wind in the top of the range 90 level of technology.
Phonak
Audeo B-Direct
Phonak Delivers Made For Any Phone
Phonak introduced the Audeo B-Direct, and it is really a revolutionary hearing aid that changes wireless connection to a mobile phone forever. The Audeo B-Direct connects to any Bluetooth® enabled mobile phone, directly without a streamer. Even better, it offers true hands-free calling. As it supports the classic Bluetooth protocol, it provides direct connectivity to cell phones – including AndroidTM, iPhone® and even classic cell phones – with no extra body-worn streaming device required.
Audeo B-Direct Hearing Aid Prices
We would expect the range depending on the technology level, to be sold at prices from £1200.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €1200.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $1200.00 to $3200.00 in the USA.
True hands-free calling is now a reality
The hearing aids offer real hands-free voice calling. The wearer can answer or reject a phone call by simply pressing the push button on their hearing aid. The ringing of the phone is heard through the hearing aids and once the call is accepted, the conversation is instantly streamed. You don’t even need to pick up your phone. Your voice is picked up by the hearing aid’s intelligent microphone network and transmitted to the other caller similar to a wireless headset.
No Music Streaming
Unfortunately for people who like to stream music or audio books from their phone, this hearing device isn't the answer. While it delivers astonishing new power over mobile phone calls, it doesn't allow the type of streaming that delivers music or other audio. However, they have thought about music lovers and your TV viewing habits.
Hearing aids that double as wireless TV headphones
They have also introduced an accompanying TV Connector, which uses their proprietary AirStreamTM technology. It is designed to be a state-of-the-art compact multimedia hub that seamlessly connects wearers to their favourite TV programming for an immersive audio experience. It’s a plug and play solution that automatically turns a pair of Audéo B-Direct hearing aids into wireless TV headphones. The TV Connector can also connect and transmit to multiple sets of Audéo B-Direct hearing aids simultaneously. That’s a pretty good solution for couples with hearing loss.
Delivering direct streaming to an underserved group
Android is the predominant player in the smartphone market with an estimated four out of every five smartphones being Android. The Audéo B-Direct will now bring direct streaming to this neglected market while also providing compatibility with Apple’s iPhone. More than that though, the new solution allows users who own a classic cell phone to avail of direct streaming as well.
The device is a receiver in canal (RIC) hearing aid which means that it will be suitable for a wide range of hearing losses and users. It is also the first device to make use of Sonova’s revolutionary SWORD chip and wireless radio technology. They say that the low-voltage radio chip has the lowest power consumption of any hearing aid using Bluetooth Classic.
The device uses a size thirteen battery and Phonak reports some excellent battery life figures. They say that the battery should last for six days with one hour of phone use and 3 hours of TV per day. That isn’t bad, I would say though real-world experience will vary, some people like to talk more and watch a lot more TV. Even though the device is a size thirteen, it isn't actually much bigger than their Audeo B 312.
Three levels of technology
The new device will be available in three levels of technology, the 90, the 70 and the 50, so no entry level device this time around. Although that was to be expected based on the introduction of the rechargeable devices.
New Accompanying App
There is a new app to go with the devices for smartphones; the app offers the typical features you would expect.
Volume adjustment, programme changes, you can also rename the programmes to make them easier to remember. The app will show a list of the available audio sources and allow the user to control the balance of audio when streaming.

Virto B Hearing Aids
Meet The New Phonak Virto B Range
Phonak have now introduced the full range of their new Virto B in the ear products. They say that they are custom-made to perfectly fit in your ear, Phonak Virto B is the world’s first hearing aids with Biometric Calibration, which take your individual ear anatomy and hearing needs into account. That's an interesting description.
They say that they will identify over 1600 biometric data points in and on your ear, and the unique calibration settings are calculated for each Virto B hearing aid. In this way, Virto B is able to more reliably sense where a sound is coming from, thereby giving you access to better hearing performance.
What does that all mean? Well, we think that Phonak is the first ever hearing aid manufacturer to carefully map the outer ear to take advantage of its natural abilities. They say that the new process will deliver a 2dB signal to noise ratio improvement. Basically, it means it will make the signal (what you want to listen to) 2dB higher than the noise.
2dB doesn't sound like much but combined with all the other strategies that Phonak use it will be a marked improvement. Phonak Virto B is available in six models to match your hearing needs. It is also available in the usual four levels of technology, the 90, 70, 50 and 30.

Virto B-Titanium Invisible Hearing Aids
As part of a raft of introductions, Phonak announced that they were introducing a new Virto hearing aid type as part of their Virto Belong range. The device is quite groundbreaking, it is the first hearing aid device to use medical grade titanium to form the custom shell. While this alone is innovative, they have used the properties of the metal to ensure that they can offer discreet custom hearing aids to more people than ever.
Virto Belong Titanium Prices
Depending on the technology level, we would expect the Virto Belong Titanium devices to be sold at prices from £1400.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €1800.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $1800.00 to $3200.00 in the USA. Just to be clear, we don't set prices here and they differ from Practice to Practice across the World so our expectations aren't binding, they are just a guess and some research. Always remember, we all like to shop around, but always be clear about what is being delivered. You will need care and support, make sure you will get it. You will also need your hearing aid validated or verified to get the best experience, paying a little more to ensure your experience is good, is not wasted money. That's our price rant for the day over, let's talk about the devices.
A Titanium Shell
They named the hearing aid as the Virto B-Titanium and said at the time that it will be the most discreet in-ear device they have ever made. It is a fascinating device that uses titanium for the shell instead of the usual hard acrylic. This is the first time that titanium has been used in the manufacture of a custom hearing aid.
Super discreet
Virto B-Titanium is the smallest Phonak in-the-ear hearing aid ever! It is for all intent and purpose an invisible hearing aid device.
Half as Thin
Using titanium allows for a shell that’s half as thin as traditional custom shells. This will result in a deep, comfortable fit. Phonak say that the overall size is reduced significantly, thus increasing invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) fit rate by 64%. That simply means that more people than ever will be physically suitable for their latest invisible hearing aid.
Three Levels of Receiver
The device comes available with three levels of receiver which allows it to cover even more hearing losses than ever before. Because of the use of Titanium, it also allows for bigger vents in their hearing aids which means fewer occlusion problems for people with good low-frequency hearing.
Fully automatic
Virto B-Titanium features AutoSense OS™. It adapts to every sound environment automatically for excellent hearing performance everywhere. There will be no need to manually adjust the hearing aids. Although, they can come with an optional push button for just that.
Technology Levels
The Virto B-Titanium will only be available in the 90 and the 70 levels of technology.
Will Fit More People Than Ever
The material is exceptionally strong, which allows Phonak to make the shell much thinner than ever before with even more strength. This combined with new component design allows them to deliver an invisible hearing device that they say will fit 68% more ears.
The deep position in the ear canal of the device will allow the hearing aid to use the natural shape of the ear to funnel sound to the microphone. This strategy has always proved to deliver excellent directional hearing.
Who will the Virto Belong-Titanium be suitable for?
While invisible hearing aids can be a bit hit and miss for suitability, Phonak says that their new designs and materials will, in fact, make the hearing aids suitable for more people than ever. While that will most definitely be the case, there will still be some limitations on the ability to fit. I would imagine if the bends in the ear canal are too tight, it will preclude this device from being suitable.
Other contraindications are the same as every other invisible hearing aid such as excessive waxy ear canals, history of mid-ear infections or perforated eardrums. If you face these issues, this will not be the product for you. In these cases, other discreet hearing aids may be more advisable to consider.

If you want a good all-around hearing aid that will do the job for your in less complex sound situations, then this is the range for you. If however, you want something to help you down the local pub on a Friday night, maybe you should look elsewhere. But that really goes for every hearing aid at this level of technology.
Belong Bolero B50 hearing aids are also automatic and will recognise and automatically adapt to your listening situations. Audeo Belong Hearing Devices
The Audeo Belong Receiver In Canal hearing device range is the first Phonak hearing device range with a rechargeable option. This in itself is quite an amazing innovation and a new direction for them. However there is much more that is new in this range than just that, the Belong comes with an upgraded operating system, the latest version of Phonak's SoundRecover2 and new microphones and programme buttons.
The range uses the existing Venture chipset and is available in four technology levels, the 90, the 70, the 50 and the 30, although the rechargeable option is not available in the 30 level of technology, perhaps in the next platform. That is a pity because the rechargeable hearing devices are proving amazingly popular.
Audeo Belong 90 Prices
We would expect the Audeo Belong 90 range to be sold at prices from £1700.00 to £2200.00 in the UK depending on the Practice and location. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from €2400.00 to €3000.00 in Ireland. We would expect the range to be sold at prices from $2400.00 to $3200.00 in the USA.
New Autosense System
The operating system in the Belong range is an updated version of Phonak's Autosense OS. They have improved the system with new settings that manage how the system works. Phonak's continued research on AutoSense OS gave them the opportunity to make it even better.
They have tweaked the operating system, changing how the hearing aids respond to changes in the sound environment. They say that these changes deliver even better speech intelligibility across the different settings.
SoundRecover2
SoundRecover2 is Phonak's latest version of their frequency compression strategy. It is feature that moves high frequency sounds in speech into lower areas of hearing. It is exceptionally useful for people who have little or no hearing in their high-frequency range. The feature works only when needed, for instance if a sound is in an area of hearing where you simply could not hear it.
In cases like this, normal amplification will simply not work well, SoundRecover2 moves the sound to an area where the is usable hearing, which will allow you to hear the sound information you need to understand speech. The new and updated version was first introduced in the new Naida Venture and there have been excellent reports about it from users.
Hardware changes
The Audeo Belong has a new style of button, which is more functional and a new microphone system. While the button change is designed to make the aids easier to use, the microphone change is probably the most important. The new microphone system is designed to make the devices sound better in both noise and quiet. Most hearing aids suffer from something that is called circuit noise, it is a low volume sound that is often described by users as a hiss.
More often than not circuit noise is caused by the function of the microphones in the aids. The noise is never very loud but if you have good low-frequency hearing you will hear it. The new microphone system almost eliminates this noise, the feedback from users is that they are the quietest hearing aids they have ever worn. So quiet that they can almost forget they are on.
The Phonak Audeo Belong Hearing Aid Range
The range itself is a relatively typical ful- line Audeo offering, so that is a full range of Receiver in Canal devices. Let's take a look:
Audeo B-10
Very small RIC device using a size 10 battery, it is quite discreet and can be used with several receiver variations meaning it can cover a lot of hearing losses. It doesn't have a telecoil although as always it is a wireless device. It has a button but no volume control.
Audeo B-312
Again a very small RIC device, however, it uses a size 312 battery, it is still very discreet and can be used with several receiver variations meaning it can cover a lot of hearing losses. Like the 10, it doesn't have a telecoil although as always it is a wireless device. It has a button but no volume control.
Audeo B-312T
Slightly bigger than the 312, it is still a small and discrete device RIC which uses a size 312 battery, it can be used with several receiver variations meaning it can cover a lot of hearing losses. Unlike the 10 and the 312, it has a telecoil as well as being a wireless device. It has a button but no volume control.
Audeo B-13
The largest of the Audeo B RIC range, it runs on a size 13 battery and can be used with several receiver variations meaning it can cover a lot of hearing losses. The 13 comes fully loaded with both a telecoil, programme button and a volume control as well as being a wireless device.
