Unitron has just launched a brand new platform that they are calling Blu. They say, that the range, announced in April 2021, will provide users with next-generation sound performance. Unitron has delivered best in class hearing aids for many years and while they are a stablemate of Phonak, they always offer their unique approach. The Blu platform will be initially offered with three Receiver In Canal hearing aid models, two of which are rechargeable. They will be equipped with the latest Sonova chipset and Made For Any Phone system. Here is what you need to know.
Unitron says: “It is hard to know what experiences we may encounter throughout the day. With our new Blu platform clients are provided with our most advanced sound performance and will be ready for life’s unexpected moments knowing their hearing aids will keep up with their unique lifestyle.”
New Chipset
The Blu range is powered by the Sonova PRISM (Processing Real-Time Intelligent Sound Management) chipset which it shares with Phonak's Paradise among other Sonova offerings. They have also introduced a new sound processing system that they call Integra OS. Unitron says that they have designed their new OS to deliver users the best tailor-made sound experience no matter what the sound environment is.
The PRISM chip offers double the memory of their last chipset, which powers the new features and personalisation that Blu offers. The Remote Plus app will allow users to temporarily “boost clarity and comfort within the automatic program”. The app also offers up to six optional, pre-set programs which you can further adjust to enhance speech, reduce noise, or focus the microphones to meet your needs.
Tap Control
Unitron has introduced a Tap Control feature with the Blu which allows you to use a simple tap to control certain things. The tap feature only works with the rechargeable models as they are the only models with motion sensors.
Made For Any Phone
The Blu range is Made for Any Phone hearing aids, which means connectivity to any mobile phone with Bluetooth, it will connect to any Bluetooth device that offers an audio connection, including tablets, computers and even TVs. Blu hearing aids will connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously and pair with up to be eight devices.
The Models
The models will be Moxi devices, Unitron's Receiver In Canal devices. Moxi Blu devices are available in two lithium-ion rechargeable models and a traditional 312 battery model. The case has been re-designed for 2021 with a slightly different shape. The devices are:
