The Practice is owned and managed by husband and wife team Sarah and Ian Vokes. Sarah Vokes has been involved with the profession for many years and she is dedicated to improving the lot of both people with hearing loss and the profession she belongs to. She has recently been elected the President of the British Association of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA).
Sarah is intimately familiar with hearing loss and its effects having suffering a single sided hearing loss many years ago. She believes in delivering cutting edge hearing care and providing a service that emphasises a patient-based, friendly approach. Their passion to help people hear better has resulted in hundreds of happy customers throughout Nottingham.

Sarah is a Director and Audiologist at the Correct Hearing. When she was a teenager, a bout of meningitis left her with a one sided hearing loss. So she fully understands the complexities arising from hearing loss. Her hearing loss spurred her to study Audiology. She studied at Nottingham School of Audiology where she was awarded a BAAT and went on to work within the NHS. She built up her skills and specialities to include multiple disciplines including tinnitus care and paediatric testing (children's audiology). ‘Correct Hearing’ was established in 2009 as after working for both the NHS and a large national company she felt that she wanted to create a more relaxed and bespoke service for people with a hearing loss.
We use the micro suction technique of removing ear cleaning, this is widely known to be the safest and most effective method. The procedure commonly only takes a few minutes, with no ear syringing and often no need for weeks of softening with oil. With our Video Otoscopy we are able to show you detailed images of the ear canal on screen before and after your wax is removed.

Hearing tests are quick, simple and painless, we can tell you immediately after your assessment if you have a hearing problem and what steps you should take to improve your hearing. We would recommend that you allow at least an hour for your appointment with us to ensure we have time to talk through your results. It is also best that a family member or friend be present as a familiar voice can be helpful as part of your check up.
We offer only the very best hearing aids from world leading manufacturers. We only provide the very latest devices available from famous hearing aid brands like Widex, Phonak, Starkey, GN Resound and the rest of the Big Six Hearing Aid Manufacturers. As an Independent Hearing Care Provider we have relationships with all of the brands and we offer an impartial hearing aid service.
We offer all make hearing aid repairs, often we may be able to do it in-house. However if we can't, no matter the hearing aid brand, we can organise repair and service of the device.

Although there’s currently no single treatment that works in the same way for everyone, if an underlying cause can be established it can often be effectively treated.
